A few thoughts from an old woman

First, let me say that God is so good.  He shows us His love and mercy and grace in so many ways. Everywhere we turned as a team, we were reminded of God’s presence on this trip, whether it was His hand in overcoming the enemy’s attempt to thwart our flight plans, or something as simple and touristy as wishing we could see a moose and turning the curve of the road and coming almost face to face with a moose munching away. It was almost as if God was saying, “Here I am. What else do you all need from Me?”

After we arrived and decorated the church, we went visiting out in the community to invite the children to VBS.  It was rainy and cold, but we were not to be deterred.  If ever we needed affirmation, we got it that rainy cold afternoon, especially when the children we met from last year recognized us!  There were smiles everywhere.  What a great feeling. And they told us they were excited and looking forward to VBS. JUST WHAT WE HAD BEEN PRAYING FOR.

We had a great Sunday service. Mike challenged us all to take up our ✟ and go out into our communities and spread the Word of God.  We can’t profess to love Him and serve Him, and not want others to know Him.

And Sunday afternoon came, AND SO DID THE CHILDREN!

VBS was wonderful. The children of McGrath are very knowledgeable about the Bible. The puppets were such a positive addition to our team.  Jay and Haley made them really fun.

By the end of the week, the kids were opening up more during our small group time. Jay and Haley really spent some quality time with some of the older girls just hanging out and talking.

I just want to say thank you to my host family, Kellie and Josh, for sharing your spiritual gift of hospitality with Jay and I. Also, Joyce, thanks to you, I am now working to take off 6 pounds I put on. Well you and the other great cooks up there.  Tony and Meagan, Jay is planning an extended stay with you all.  Good luck with that.

McGrath is such a a special place.  I never thought I would fall in Love with a place that does not even have a movie theatre.  I will have to work on that.  I can’t wait to see how God moves in this little place.
